iLandman allows us to organize a land project, store documents, list mineral owners, % & addresses

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

The large database capability. The ease of locating a mineral owner and identifying the tracts and contracts associated with that owner.

Cons:

The amount of time to enter data, particulary when one owner in multiple tracts is succeeded through sale or death by multiple owners, each of whose data must be entered in each tract

Great Platform for Lease Management

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

I respect the functionality and thought put into linking together the Contracts and Instruments at the tract level. The information is readily available at the click of a button. Look at a tract and you will find the Instruments, Contracts (old and current), Assignments, Title Opinions, the linked Wells and Units are all displayed on one tab. This makes finding the information I need as quick as possible. Also, the Contract Conditions Section is extremely useful, as it makes Cost Free Royalty Reports and Consents Required Reporting as easy as pushing a button. I can search for Vertical Pughs or Horizontal Pughs, or let's face it, anything I need to know about a contract or group of contracts regarding their provisions. Some of the setup required (especially with the provisions section) are tedious, but this time is well worth it when you are running reports down the road.

Cons:

Before I state the following, iLandman's Customer Service has the fastest response time anyone could expect. I hear back almost immediately every time I submit a ticket. However in this environment, Customer service can be tricky. It can be difficult to describe what problems you are having without building step-by-step directions for how a problem occurred (and sometimes you don't really know what happened, you just know something happened). There is a bit of a communication gap. I'm sure this is common with all IT services and is probably not isolated to iLandman's customer service people, but it can be a tough hurdle.

ILM has a firm grasp on basic land detail, but comprehensive reporting is somewhat cumbersome.

3.0 6 years ago

Pros:

I find iLandmapper to be one of the most useful tools in ILM, as it is ever-changing with the tract and contract data. The ability draw our own polygons has greatly improved the accuracy of our data. The ability to run reports comparing the data to the map is reassuring that both the data and the map are in harmony. Coming from an Excel-based database, another important "pro" to note is that my data is secure. No one can inadvertently overwrite or delete a formula, which can devastate an entire Excel workbook in one click, if not caught immediately. In ILM, if the data happens to be edited incorrectly by a user, we can track that instance down to a specific person/date/time and get it corrected in a fraction of the time it would take in Excel.

Cons:

Comprehensive Data Reporting is by far my least favorite aspect of iLandMan. Despite the extensive reporting options, none seem to capture everything I'd like to see. The Report Builder is a wonderful concept, but limited in the way it allows the user to pull data together. In order to pull data together the way I need it, I had to pay for a customized report. Also, the well features in ILM are very limited and exclude basics, such as, Company WI/NRI in the well, permit number, depth of the well, regulatory district, lease acreage, well proration acreage, etc. ILM also excludes any section for building/tracking AFE/partner elections, which makes the Interest Deck dependent on manual data entry stemming from outside sources. As the Division of Interest (Interest Deck) is dependent on AFE/partner elections,it would be nice to have these integrated in the software.

Use iLandMan on a daily basis. Does a great job keeping projects organized.

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Helps keep all of our projects organized, from tracts to contracts to wells.

Pros:

Reminds us when we have bonus/extension/rental payments due. Also lets us know when other payments are due, such as shut-in royalty payments. The map feature is excellent. The support we receive is great as well.

Cons:

The trainings that are offered are too basic. After the training, you do not know enough to use the software to it's full extent. Also, the help feature is outdated, and usually isn't specific enough. A set of guidelines that walk you through step-by-step in setting projects/tracts/contracts/wells up would be very helpful.

Easy to use, free customer support

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Great reporting and interactive map

Pros:

Easy to use, awesome for new projects as they come in from the field. I like that it's intuitive and does not contain complicated screens. I like that it can be used as a data room and that permissions are easily assigned to users.

Cons:

There are a lot of little nuances that if they aren't done in order, can mess things up, like under payments if you choose a location and then send to the next payment approval level it deletes the location. You must save first. There is only one blank for royalty, so when I have different royalties for oil and gas I have to choose one, which is not actually correct. Mostly small things once you get past initial project setup and production.

Good system for managing landmen

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: Organizing land title, lease packages, project maps, payment schedules, contractor billing, abstracts, production data all from a working map. We can easily find out about nearby tracts, as long as the data has been inputted.

Pros:

I like the way it organizes data in conjunction with the project map. Once the data is inputted properly, you can easily get information on lease tracts and the status of payments and such. I think it has population fields for nearly every possible scenario one could potentially find in our title and contracts

Cons:

My first complaint is going to be with the mapping side...probably more of a garbage in, garbage out kind of thing, so it's hard to say if it's the software or the user. Another issue I've had is the sequence in which data must be entered in order to for it to recognize certain things, ie...if you try to add owners to a contract before the tract numbers , it will not show that the owners have interest in the tracts. Another thing is that I've noticed random bugs that will occur. The map might change shapes in a certain portion, or it might say i have already uploaded an instrument that is clearly not there yet. Or if I search for that instrument after its uploaded, it says its not there. Overall, I found it very difficult to use in that it took a lot of time learning the intricacies and the ins and outs of how to enter data and get the proper result. The bugs tend to be sporadic and work themselves out usually. So in conclusion, I like the product and its effectiveness, but think it can be refined some more. One last thing...naked ownerships and usufructs could be better represented in the population boxes to show more detail about those specific scenarios.

PLM software getting better every year!

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: It is wonderful to not need to go pull out an old, heavy well file to find a document (as long as it as been uploaded to ILM)!

Pros:

My favorite function is the Payment Obligations page, which can be customized. I also utilize the map module frequently and was pleased that they added an easier way to add tracts to the map in the tract setup, streamlining the processes . Their customer support team is helpful & they are happy to take suggestions for future upgrades.

Cons:

While I do like the map module, it can be a little clunky. I'd like to have the ability to change thickness of lines and customize polygons & text in all aspects - be it Unit, Tract, or Whiteboard features.

Nice user interface and ease of use

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

I love that I am able to access the software from any computer, and it is always easy to find the documents I am looking for.

Cons:

I don't like that I am unable to download all documents for each tract in one mass download. Clicking on each individual document one at a time is time consuming when I need to review many documents at once.

Great Software

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

The ability to build abstracts and house the actual title documents in one place. Very user friendly.

Cons:

Can not associate Acquisitions to more than one mineral tract. For a mineral management company, the Division Order module is not compatible. It is built for operators.

It has been great for putting drilling prospects together and organizing lease files.

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

The report generating function for contracts and tracts. Being able to organize contracts and tracts into a report is good for our investor meetings.

Cons:

Not being able to easily split up a project after it's been created. I also don't like how the interest decimal is only limited to a certain amount of decimal points, I wish it would go out to more places so interest percentages match up with our Ownership Reports.

Extremely helpful organizational tool

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

ilandman provides a platform to keep all information germane to a specific project in one place. Landmen no longer have to keep track of tangible files and loose documents. I also think that the interface is user friendly and intuitive.

Cons:

My least favorite feature is the way you have to edit global documents vs editing tract specific documents.

ILandman is an awesome program. I love it!

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Increases my ability to turn in runsheets quicker. Learn a new way to work on my runsheets.

Pros:

Having the ability to search for common documents entered by other landmen. Easy input of documents. Check tracts with similar documents

Cons:

I would like the ability to search within the tract that I'm working on. Example, see if I've already entered Releases for Deeds of Trust

Extremely user-friendly, easy to navigate & fast without any slow-downs.

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

I like how user-friendly the software is. It's easy to navigate it's easy to train people how to use and it's fast without very many "slow-down" or "downtime". I especially like the image drag and drop feature and how fast pdfs open when you want to view same.

Cons:

Sometimes reports are difficult to run and the length of time it takes for the reports to download.

Easy and intuitive to use and helps keep data organized

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: Easy access to our land data.

Pros:

The software makes it easy to create reports and view data. The web based version makes on the go functionality convenient.

Cons:

The options to enter capture depths associated with leasehold needs more functionality. Complex leasehold is typically very severed and it would be beneficial to capture the complexity.

Comments: A new land software program for the office staff.

Pros:

The ease in maneuvering through the contracts, images, tracts, and running reports. The quick ability to scan and drop documents in to all necessary areas for all to view.

Cons:

The lack of division of interest capabilities and burden spreads. Every software can be improved upon.

I think the product is great in covering the vast oil and gas industry.

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

I love how the software stays current with the ever changing market and covers so much of the industry from mapping, rental payments (including those with pugh clauses) to even the user invoice.

Cons:

That someone isn't there at 8 AM when I have an issue to answer the question which can sometimes be hindering when a client is waiting on a report or answer to a question.

Great API design, easy to use.

4.0 6 years ago

Pros:

We like this product because of i's cloud-base feature. As an analyst, this is critical for gathering data and analyze it.

Cons:

We really hope that iLandman could have the same quality after it got acquired by P2. P2 used to have its own Landman related doc system, but it was way over-priced and really not user friendly. That's why we went for iLandman. I sincerely wish that P2 doesn't ruin iLandman.
