Efficient and reliable software as an Architect.

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: A solid contender to other Architecture software. Well built up software!

Pros:

Its features and solid layout. It shows that a lot of attention has been given to the development of the software.

Cons:

It could be improved upon in the early sketch phase. Its complexity and feature sets also makes it less unobtrusive of the early design stages.

Big fan of Revit

5.0 4 months ago

Comments: I work for a technology design consultant, which is usually the last one in construction sharing space with other disciplines - Revit make that so much easier thna in the past.

Pros:

Massive improvement over CAD. 3/D Clash detection feature.

Cons:

Some confusion in learning availability of family choices

Revit works well for designing buildings

4.0 2 months ago New

Comments: I liked it overall for designing buildings. With a bit more time, I think I would have become more comfortable with how to use it.

Pros:

It worked well for designing a house in my class.

Cons:

It seemed like they could make it a bit more user friendly.

Complicate algorithm lead to lot of problems

3.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have few experience with Architectural model since I am a mechanical engineer. moderate experience in MEP drawing, but enough experience in families which I hate in Revit. Also I have 6 months in programming with Revit using C#, and I found the object oriented classes and objects are interfered to infinity (as I guess) where it can be in easy way, this core issues lead to the complication in Revit especially as I think, in families the procedures start to solve the parameters in a way lead to unsatisfied solution where it run properly.

Pros:

Working without families, has few problems in piping connection especially (as mechanical). I think as from Architectural side few problems we have (such fix the model automatically for epsilon of errors), I create an add-ins using C# to fix this and find errors of an Architectural model or mechanical spaces.

Cons:

The illogical behavior of some functions in families and contradictions, even in 3D presentation with thin metal sheets.

Revit has no Competition

5.0 3 months ago

Comments: Very Happy with this Software. No other Softwares come close to Revit with the amount of functionality that it provides.

Pros:

Revit is the best software when it comes to producing a full set of construction drawings. Revit works with 3D components so once you create a Model, you can acquire the plans, elevations and sections from that Model. It is a very convenient and user friendly software. Additionally there are plenty of useful plugins such as Enscape where you can produce high quality renderings.

Cons:

Files can appear very large, typically at least 200mb. Fortunately there is a function where you may purge unwanted or unused items in the model.

Revit is worth the time to learn to use

4.0 5 months ago

Comments: I am a decades long AutoCad user, switched to Revit in the last few years. The switch over was fairly simple. Working with models already created to manipulate them is quite intuitive, creating stairs, roofs and schedules is challenging.

Pros:

The ease at which a building design can be changed, multiple ideas and concepts can be explored.

Cons:

There are some simple tasks in AutoCad that are made much more difficult in Revit. The ability to create tables by just adding the data yourself is very difficult. Schedules in general are tricky to set up

Best tool for parametric modelling

4.0 last year

Comments: Very comprehensive and easy to use software that has made creating models and streamlining design easy and fast.

Pros:

Revit is the best and easiest tool to create parametric bim models when compared to the others. It has the shortest learning curve and the most tools available

Cons:

It struggles when importing geometry from non revit formats even if it is coming from the same ecosystem (autocad). It also needs to improve the topography

Central information of architecture

5.0 last year

Comments: I mainly use it to extract 3D architectural models for architectural visualization in other rendering programs, it allows different workflows since it has many extensions to export.

Pros:

I am dedicated to the field of architectural visualization and revit is a useful tool when creating joint work processes with other people, you can obtain countless information. From 3D modeling to construction pricing.

Cons:

Probably its price, Latin America is not yet a market prepared to pay large sums of money, but I understand that it is a program with a lot of technology and extremely useful, I truly believe that it is worth what it costs.

Quality software but expensive for a small practice

5.0 last year

Comments: Good. Love the software but takes some learning.

Pros:

3D and 2D capabilities. Time saving later in process.

Cons:

Cost. For a small practice it’s expensive, especially for multiple annual licenses as opposed to licenses in perpetuity.

Revit for Structural Steel design

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, the use of Revit has been a very valuable and useful tool to the organization. We have been have able to visualize and model products for take-offs and quotes effectively.

Pros:

the ability to create our own families for our products and quickly produce drawings parametrically.Implementing has been a pretty easy process. But like a set of legos with many ways to assembly. We are always striving to best develop the best process and practices for long term use.

Cons:

We wish Revit was a combination of Advanced Steel and Revit. Even thou this is not the best practice for this type of software, our new users are adjusting to new techniques and practices based on Revit and BIM modeling.

Revit

5.0 last year

Comments: It has been a super fun learning curve but also very aggravating at times.

Pros:

There is an enormous amount of potential with Revit to make your company stay ahead of competition with prefabrication.

Cons:

This is the most complicated program I have ever used in my life. It will take many years to master the program and at least a year to just know how to simply draw.

Revit = BIM Sucess

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: Its cool, works well ~95% of the time but its also very complicated and can be challenging to problem solve when it does not work

Pros:

Revit is the only option for large scale BIM at this point in the MEP design space

Cons:

Revit can be really difficult to deal with at certain times depending on what you are trying to do

Best for MEP

4.0 11 months ago

Pros:

Revit gives engineers and architects with a variety of benefits. Because of how well it integrates with the BIM concept, many of these advantages are obtained.

Cons:

Interior designers might experience frustration. This is because of the fact that Revit is not the most user-friendly program when it comes to working on building interiors from a different perspective.

architect employe review

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I believe that Revit is so far the best program out there. Everyone can use it even without going to courses or classes. It's at everyone's reach either they are designer's or not. It suits beginners and experts.

Pros:

Revit is one of the easiest yet practical programs out there for architects and interior designers. Its very easy and we can say forward and straight to the point. having to draw either 2d's,3d's, details drawings, etc. is very doable even if you don't have a great experience with it. It helps you from the first year of collage until even working on you first job.

Cons:

What i least like about Revit is the outcome of the final renders are not always with high quality even when you change the settings to the best, yet sometimes it turns out not as good as you need. The lighting and it's settings are as well a but complicated either the sun light settings or even the illumination of any lighting fixture you add.

Intelligent BIM

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

I love the energy analysis modeling, it is very useful for my line of work (master student in sustainable design). Also love how easy it is to model high quality housing from plans in a very quick manner

Cons:

Honestly, the new interface and project list left side ribbon. It has alot more subgroups and items which is very distracting and confusing for quick access

Steep Learning Curve

5.0 last year

Pros:

Extremely powerful CAD software that could potentially put draughtspeople out of work.

Cons:

There is a steep, and i mean extremely steep, learning curve if you want to do anything other than model 3D elements. Imagine like setting up your AutoCAD standards years ago, but x10.

Powerful Construction Software

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: This product helped greatly with our design and clash detection on projects. The software is innovative, and the future of construction design/management.

Pros:

Revit has endless capabilities for construction management. From design to final punch list, its tools are helpful and useful each step of the way

Cons:

There is a huge learning curve for using this product. This is to be expected with the large about of data and design being processed. There are probably some UI changes that could help with this.

Revit for interior design

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: In general, Revit seems to me to be a very complete program when it comes to designing and that allows you to determine areas and quantities, which is very important when developing a project.

Pros:

I like how easy it is to model and how you can have a full 2D and 3D view at the same time. I am also an interior designer and I like how the program also adapts for these details

Cons:

when creating sheets you cannot repeat the plan views so we have to create copies to use them in other sheets
