Reviews of OBS Studio

This is the best screen recording and streaming software for windows.
Comments: My overall experience has been very smooth. Never have I ever faced an issue with OBS; it always works flawlessly whenever I need it for work.
Pros:
Pros: Trust me, the title says it all. I am a game developer, and I use the screen recording feature a lot to help my colleagues. This might sound like a paid review, but it is genuinely not. The thing I love the most about the OBS Studio is the software itself, which is open source, which guarantees users that it does not contain any bloatware or spyware. Also, it is so easy to use, even for a beginner. With just a click of a button, you can start recording or streaming the absolute best in the market, no doubt about that.
Cons:
Cons: I believe that OBS could try making their software lighter; at the moment, it is a little bit on the heavier side. Other than that, I have no more complaints; just keep this open-source software updated and maintained.
OBS Studio for The Gaming Podcasters out there
Comments: Fun, useful, It doesn't crash nearly as often as other streaming software. If it does crash there is a automatic crash handler that sends the data from the crash to the OBS Dev team for review to help correct and better the software for the next release.
Pros:
OBS Studio is a free and open-source software suite for recording and live streaming video content. It is widely used by gamers like me as well as other content creators to stream their gameplay or hold their Podcasts on Twitch and a variety of other platforms. OBS Studio is one of the more robust and free screen recorder and streaming suite available for gamers and podcasters, with everything one needs to achieve with some great results. It offers a wide selection of source options and is optimized for games. However, it is wise to get yourself familiarized with the software and experiment as well.
Cons:
OBS Studio is powerful, customizable, and a resource-friendly solution especially with users on Twitch. However, limitations in advanced editing and streaming functionalities do require additional tools and at times other software to complement the suite that it is. Overall, OBS Studio is a awesome choice for gamers and podcasters who want to stream their gameplay on Twitch and other platforms. OBS offers a wide range of features and is optimized for games, but it can take some time to get familiar with the features, so best to learn and maybe check on a few tutorials.
Best for videoing or livestreams
Pros:
I like the ability to control all facets of my broadcasts and livestreams.
Cons:
It is a very complex system at first to understand what to control, for example bandwidth and frame rate or microphone settings.
Free and relatively painless
Comments: Overall, I have found this program to be dependable. It runs every week, and I have not had to troubleshoot anything in the program in over a YEAR. That alone is commendable for a program that I run on a weekly basis. I run apple products that need more hands-on management than this program. The interface is not as sleek, but it gets the job done. Give me a little more control over audio and video syncing, and some transition effects, and I would be slamming the #5 stars across the board.
Pros:
IT IS FREE. May all of my complains and frustrations with this software be safely tucked under the umbrella of a customer who is pleased at the end of the day with a product that is reliable and costs him nothing. That is a miracle and I believe that it is getting easier and easier to use. I love the fact that once I have everything set up in the back end of the program, I can get going with one click. I use this program to record and live-stream our Sunday morning services at Church. On the off-chance that the wifi goes down or something, the ability to continue recording to an external drive has saved us on more than one occasion. It handles the basics such as screen sharing, adding logos, and even some basic audio input options very well. Overall, I am extremely pleased and it made the ability to live-stream in a church of 200 people affordable and attainable.
Cons:
Set-up was a long process of educating myself with very little reward and no long-term application for the knowledge that I gained. There seems to be certain settings that you need to select for different types of streaming. Having to wade through numerous youtube videos in order to find what I needed specifically, was not fun. I would love for this software to develop presets for different purposes. Most all gamers tend to used the same presets with some variation depending on their individual internet speeds. Why not have a preset for gamers and another preset for bloggers, or live-streamers? I don't think it would take much and with a few basic questions, the program could do a lot of the heavy lifting that makes the back end of OBS a pain to work with. Additionally the interface, while more intuitive than most open-source programs, does leave something to be desired. I often have to click through all of the setting options in order to find specific settings that need adjustment. Also, I have been running into issues with syncing external audio with the video during live streaming. The video buffer seems to be inconsistent, so the audio and video will start out synced and randomly get out of wack.
The best for both seasoned streamers and amateurs
Comments: As mentioned above, I use it for both work and personal endeavors. I keep coming back to it and prefer it over other media management software. Until something better comes in the horizon (which hasn't been the case) I'll stick to it.
Pros:
This is great for personal media management or large broadcasts. The great stuff is personalization as it adjusts to the needs of every event or stream that you need to prepare, keeping the settings in a single machine.
Cons:
It could be a bit more intuitive or implement some automatization.

Alternatives Considered:
The best video recording and live sctreaming software i have come across
Comments: i will definitely give it a 98% overall, i love its functionality and impressive features
Pros:
the user interface and the features the software has
Cons:
while recording video then it crashes, the recorded video cannot be recovered

A Perfect OBS Studio
Comments: I have grown to love it use compared to Vmix as it is simple to use
Pros:
The setup is easy and straight forward. Recording and streaming at the same time is seamless as you do not experience breaks.
Cons:
The recorded file sizes are a little big. Hope it be compressed an still have quality maintained.
Alternatives Considered:
OBS is the Industry Standard
Comments: I have used OBS and variants (Streamlabs) for years now, it's a dream come true. Makes live streaming game content with Webcam and more a breeze.
Pros:
Full control, full flexibility and powerful features makes OBS the #1 choice for all live streaming.
Cons:
OBS can be a little daunting to set up, but there are many video tutorials that should help anyone make it do what they need.
As an user / creator
Pros:
The overall quality of the videos recorded, I've tried several software, but none ofered the same quality.
Cons:
I can't record the webcam in a different file, so it's difficult to edit without changing the scenes.
This Is One of the Best Tools on The Market
Comments: Really good. I use it's for content production and with clients all the time
Pros:
This is seriously good software openly availabile to the public. It's like a Swiss army knife for capturing and managing digital video. The record quality is considered top of the line, the easy of use is great as a tech enthusiast, and the price is free.
Cons:
Honestly no complaints, just wish there was more time in the day to try every feature. The live streaming is really good just takes time to set up due to the nature of the service.
An honest review about OBS Studio
Comments:
Overall if you want to start a career in Streaming or want to record for Youtube uploads then I highly recommend OBS Studio.
Since OBS Studio is completely free and has tons of features and many custom extension which makes your experience better.
I have been using OBS Studio to record videos of me and my friends playing video games together.
Pros:
The best thing about OBS Studio is that it is free, it also has 2 versions which it's own website or the Steam version which both works fine, and it still receive updates.
Cons:
The cons of OBS Studio is that new users will have a hard time setting up OBS for streaming or recording. But there is tons of Youtube tutorial on how to setup OBS to their liking.
OBS Is a Great Free Resource
Comments: For a free software, I very much appreciate its versatility and streaming services. It offers as much as most products that have significant costs to them.
Pros:
I appreciate greatly that it is free and works amazing for the price. It gives us what we need for video recording and the quality is solid. The multi-screen capturing gives us versatility to get what we need for our production. It is fairly light-weight for what it accomplishes. I really appreciate the streaming service it offers.
Cons:
It was a little tricky to get setup and diagnose issues, especially with the low quality of our video and our slow internet. I've had issues with the screen recording and haven't had fixed the issues yet. There are limited resources available to troubleshoot issues, too.
The Essential Day to Day uses for OBS Studio
Comments: OBS allows easily collaboration between employees new and old with varying degrees of knowledge about the project being performed. This program has allowed time to be freed up for other tasks, that would have been spent dealing with the mundanities of video editing.
Pros:
The ease of use and access is among the most attractive features. New employees are easily acquainted to the system, even those with quite minor experience in video editing, as the system is very straightforward. Though it is straightforward, there is a large amount of depth for those familiar with more complex video editing software, making OBS Studio a great video editing software to have in the office; it works well with newer, inexperienced employees as well as with older veterans of the industry.
Cons:
OBS's lack of variety of plugins is rather disappointing, yet also not extremely needed. The system's nuts and bolts are so well built that it is rare for a member of our team to think of a plugin they would like to have, but it is frustrating to think of a service that would be desired, yet does not exist native to the program or as a plugin. Thankfully, in these situations, OBS has a lovely customer service team that can be reached out to with recommendations for future features, as the team is always improving the software.

Critical to my streaming setup
Comments: It is crucial to my growing podcasting and streaming business.
Pros:
It's the industry standard for a reason. Rock solid. Works fantastically in Linux. Integrates with JACK and Pipewire no problem. Also super convenient if I need to do a quick screen recording.
Cons:
Three's not much to dislike about it. Sometimes it forgets my cameras though. That can be a pain.
The cheapest and best screen recording software
Comments: I have used to to record stuff from video capture cards in real time and have recorded using it.
Pros:
It's free and it takes five minutes to set up with it's easy to understand interface. Best for streaming or recording screen captured footage and can be modified. Has a lot of advanced options for those who like to optimize.
Cons:
Some features need other apps to stream though for stuff like video conferencing and streaming outside of sites like twitch.
OBS Studios is the X-Factor for Recording
Comments: My overall experience was extremely positive with this software. OBS Studio is a dream come true for content creators, streamers, and anyone looking to capture or broadcast their content. With its user-friendly interface, limitless customization options, and low resource usage, this software has become an integral part of my content creation toolkit. I highly recommend OBS Studio to anyone looking for a reliable, feature-rich, and affordable streaming and recording solution.
Pros:
Using OBS Studio was a welcoming experience for me. First of all, what you get as a user for free is outstanding in itself. One of the standout aspects of OBS Studio is its extensive customization options. The software provides a wide array of sources to capture, including display captures, webcams, images, and even browser windows. The ability to create multiple scenes and seamlessly transition between them has elevated the quality of my streams to a whole new level!
Cons:
Well again, OBS Studio is open-source software, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget. If I had a con for this software, it would be a few rare times, my screen froze up a few times when I was adding in layers in the main screen.
OBS Studio is great and not just for streaming games!
Comments: I have used OBS for years and love that it is constantly changing and evolving. I use it at work and at home and found it to be one of the first programs I install on any computer I use. The fact that it is free makes it even better.
Pros:
The ease of use is what I like about this product. There are times when I need to customize the layout of what I am trying to record and it's great for putting things in layers. It is easy to set up and start recording or streaming with just a few layers to setup.
Cons:
The part of OBS that might need a little work, is the "decks". When I stream twitch one of the decks would be stream information. If I close that deck down and try to find it again, it's not easy to find. So I have to close down OBS and reopen.
The best out there!
Comments: Just an absolutely brilliant and positive experience with OBS Studio! Thank you
Pros:
One of the best streaming products I have ever used. It literally checked all the boxes for streaming and on-demand recording for my business.
Cons:
Maybe this is not a con. But it took me a while to get used to all the goodies OBS had to offer. But once you master it, It goes flawlessly
Easy simple and professional video capture
Comments: We like using OBS as it is fairly quick to pick up and gives excellent results and control of the end product
Pros:
The simplicity yet multiple features to record both audio and video. With the options of every source available to you, it makes it very easy to change the audio source or volume the quality of video and even the output and capture format.
Cons:
Some of the features are not easy to understand the settings. Sometimes the capture starts then fails due to the wrong settings being chosen.

My opinion about OBS
Comments: I started using OBS Studio during the pandemic to record meetings and other things, and to use the virtual camera for my meetings. Before using OBS I used to use my computer recording functionalities, but it doesn't provide as many settings, filters and options as OBS does (for free). My recording's qualities improved significantly with OBS and I am still using it.
Pros:
It is just an amazing product, I really don't use it for complex things, but the possibilities are endless, you can record screens and audio, record only a window, switch the media sources, etc. You can choose between recoding, broadcasting it to another platform or even use it as a virtual camera. Apart from all this functionalities
Cons:
I haven't found cons at all. I think that is the best software when it comes to multimedia management and recording. It's free, it has many functionalities, and it not only allows amateur users to implement it, but is also perfect for Pro editors and content creators.
If you are a streamer, you are going to love OBS Studio!
Comments: No software in the market comes close to this. Gives you all the features you'll need to get your first stream live that too for free! 10/10 recommended!
Pros:
Back when PUBG Mobile went super popular, our office would have Sunday chill sessions where we would play games and stream them online on Facebook Gaming. During that time I got my hands on OBS and man it is one of the best softwares that can help you to take care of your streaming needs. The screen capture on this is fantastic! My games never lagged for my viewers and everything I did was visible to them without any issues. The audio capture works perfectly as well keeping your voice in sync with whatever you say while streaming. On top this, It's free. I mean the company can charge so much for a product like this but you can get your hands on it for free and there's nothing better than that. With endless customization options and tools OBS Studio is a software that I'd definitely recommend to all users out there!
Cons:
When I was starting up for the first time with OBS Studio, I remember I had to put in like 4 hours to watch videos and guides to understand this software and how it works. Hence, if OBS can maybe upgrade and give a beginner friendly UI it would be really great. Better tips and easy to navigate help guide should be added to this and it will be perfect.
Fantastic free toolkit
Comments: Very reliable and flexible tool over several years of church streaming from a multi camera setup.
Pros:
One-stop shop for streaming from multiple sources and recording in parallel. Scenes make use for operators simple.
Cons:
Feature change from version to version causes some friction.
OBS is absolutely ESSENTIAL software for online streaming
Comments: Thankful that this software is (FREELY) available and works so reliably. Doesn't matter the video/audio source; it handles everything well. Absolutely no plans to switch to anything else (even if they were to start charging for it).
Pros:
We've been regularly (weekly) streaming our services for 3+ years now, exclusively using OBS Studio to do so, and it's worked essentially flawlessly. While the options for configuring the software are abundant, they're still not TOO hard to figure out, and the ability to easily work with (in a variety of ways) any incoming video/audio are great. Plus, you can't beat the price!
Cons:
Honestly haven't yet found any downside to using this software.
Good at everything it does, easy to use
Comments: I've tried other OBS softwares, and while some had features OBS Studio doesn't, the UI and general feel of OBS Studio brought me back to it. Overall there are rarely any "hiccups" in the creating process with OBS Studio
Pros:
I mainly use OBS Studio to livestream on YouTube. I also use it to edit videos and transitions for my streams, and it does great at that. Very easy to use and it's free and open source.
Cons:
It isn't a fully-featured video editor, so I use an external website to do most of the editing and only use OBS Studio for things like dynamic viewer count and adding text on the screen, etc.
OBS good for broadcasting
Comments: good, i use it for broadcasting and has a lot of resouces and native plugins to connect to the different social networks
Pros:
Its a solution to centralize all the broadcasts i have to make
Cons:
somehow configuring and customizing the broadcast parameters are complicated if you dont know about it
