Coding for people who don't code

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: AppSheet was great for implementing small applications in the workplace, meant to be used by one person. Once the ideas started to take off, there was a lot of limitations I ran into, including price. At that point I found it more lacerative too look into other solutions and migrate my apps to another platform.

Pros:

AppSheet is an incredible piece of software that easily integrates with Google Sheets, Excel, Salesforce, and others. Its GUI is very user friendly, and allows new/amature coders to create full web-apps with minimal knowledge. Very easy to use, and produces apps quickly.

Cons:

Price-point, and bugs. Knowing the number of variables AppSheet has to account for in any app, there are still certain kinks that need to be worked out. Also, AppSheet is free, unless you really want to utilize all of its features. Unfortunately, once you start getting into apps that require multiple users, or creating workflows, then you start paying per user, or a tier based price structure per app. With competition quickly rising, their prices are easily beat by competitors like PowerApps.

A solid app experience, not without its pain points

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: AppSheet filled a niche for us and we're satisfied with its performance. We have confidence that it can do what we need, and we look forward to usability improvements in the future.

Pros:

AppSheet performs well and is reasonably quick for our users. I love that we can make the app public so users don't have to sign in. We're using it embedded in a SharePoint site, so the only users who see it are already authenticated. The app builder starts you out with some reasonably good suggestions for your data, and there are a lots of options for display. In general, the Google Material Design UI is pleasant.

Cons:

Some column types aren't useful in certain situations. The worst part of AppSheet in our experience, however, has been the need to recreate custom formatting for each column in a table. Since this table has hundreds of columns, we really wish we could copy and past or duplicate styling.

Very simplistic and limited app design tool

3.0 last year

Comments: I was desappointed by AppSheet and I would recommend Mincrosoft Power Apps instead anytime.

Pros:

It is very easy to setup and it is very easy to create a small web app.

Cons:

There is almost no personalization options available on this tool. There is no way to create a minimum of complexity in the app.

The Greatest Tool for Solving Niche Business Data Problems

4.0 last year

Comments: I LOVE APPSHEET. It has become an essential part of my business toolkit. It's easy to start but learning to build apps that can do lots of complicated things does take time (at least for now). The community is great and if you're willing to stick with the process of learning how the tool works, you'll be richly rewarded. If you're someone that is comfortable using formula tools in spreadsheets, you'll do fine with Appsheet but I think anyone can learn to build killer apps using this tool.

Pros:

I have found Appsheet to be one of the best tools for solving the annoying gaps that exist in most off the shelf business software for small businesses. After working at the same company for 22 years and being disappointed by the limitations of most 'off the shelf' business software programs, I started using app sheet as a way to supplement those tools, while still relying heavily on spreadsheets. During my tenure there, the [sensitive content hidden] would push back on my request to build more complicated apps to automate and structure all the spreadsheet tools we were using. Then, when I left and they were faced with trying to manage my cobbled together system, they asked if I could help and I was able to say that the best bet was not for me to train people how to use that system but rather really invest in building more robust application based tools. 6 months into the journey and the list of possible apps keeps growing. Here are the biggest pro's as I see it:Easy to get started, especially if you're already using Google SheetsGreat community with lots of support when you have a problemVery powerful capabilities, once you figure out how to use it. Pace of upgrades and improvements seems to have picked up since Google purchased it. Data tables can all be google sheets stored in the companies google drive. This was a big selling point when I was trying to convince my former employer to invest in bigger apps because the data would always be theirs and always be accessible.

Cons:

1. The process of turning all the cool data into printed or .pdf reports is relatively difficult when compared to every other aspect of using the tool. 2. You'll get addicted to building apps and start saying "I could build an app for that" in almost any business conversation you have. (and in personal ones too!)

Solid tool for no-code/low-code development

4.0 9 months ago

Pros:

AppSheet is an excellent tool for product managers seeking to create custom applications without coding. Its intuitive, no-code platform enables users to build and deploy apps quickly, enhancing productivity and enabling rapid prototyping. The integration with various data sources such as Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL databases is powerful.

Cons:

AppSheet's no-code approach may come with limitations for more complex app requirements, where the lack of advanced customization and coding options might be restrictive.

Best no-code application builder for Google Workspace customers

5.0 9 months ago

Pros:

It is mostly simple to use and get set up. It integrates well with Google Workspace.

Cons:

There isn't a great data storage solution. The built-in AppSheet spreadsheet editor has many limits on how many tables you can have. Using sheets also gives you other limitlimitationsaitons related to table linking.

AppSheet Review

5.0 last year

Comments: i'm amazed!!!! Stunned!

Pros:

Would like to have more debugging tools to help correct programming. would be helpful to have partial results on expressions, (eg.) if(Lookup(Useremail(),"Colaboradores","Email","Role")="SuperAdmin",Select(Folha de Caixa[Caixa_Key],[Colaborador_Key]=[Email],True), Select(Folha de Caixa[Caixa_Key],[Colaborador_Key]=[_THISROW].[Email],True) )On this expression it would be amazing if we could "on mouse over" see partial results from the expression to help debug.

Cons:

Nothing really important comes to mind, all i need is more tutorials from Youtube :)

Appsheet brings a great tool to your development team. Codeless software is the way to go.

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Great experience can create complex Apps in short time.

Pros:

Easy to use. Easy to visualise the interconnectivity been data. Production of simple and useful apps are rapid to develop and deploy.

Cons:

Only issue I have is with selling the products. The approach and methodology have never been clear. There should be examples shown or cheat sheets explained so you know what costs you can allow when selling the product. It would also be great to display linear assets on the maps rather than use just a little coloured coded pointer to the assets.

Great Tool to create small apps

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: I have created about 6 applications with Appsheet. As i kept on developing more apps, the time taken started going down drastically. Since my projects focus more on quick creation over more efficiency, appsheet suits my needs perfectly. as long as i am not creating a complex application, there are no issues with this app.

Pros:

1. The App runs on any type of database at the backend. It is compatible with SQLs from different cloud platforms and even google sheets. 2. Due to the template support, after a little experience with the appsheet, you can easily create an app under 6 hours. 3. Since this is a mulit-platform tool, it works as both Website and an Android app.

Cons:

1. The Application is a low-code platform with high level syntax. This makes the application slow to use. If the application complexity increases, the time it takes to finish certain task increases non-linearly. 2. appsheet provides limited customization. which means there is a chance you will run into problems that are just unsolvable with this program. 3. Since this is a web based application, This UI feels a bit less responsive.

It's a handy tool, though it isn't without flaws

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I suggest the Appsheet even though I believe this is a really useful tool for implementing information that is critical to improving productivity. Any form of activity, whether technically or organizationally, can be managed by an enterprise.

Pros:

It's incredibly simple to make an app without any coding experience. Connections between smart spreadsheets and apps A strategy that is quite intuitive. You can play it for free before you release it, giving you plenty of time to prepare. Add new features on a regular basis. In my opinion, the method by which developers design and showcase apps is what makes them so appealing. The software, as well as the templates and forums, are all extremely self-contained. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's going on. For apps working in a variety of ways, all the necessary app modules are provided.

Cons:

The synchronization point appears to be an issue, and the identification of calculations and their operations, particularly those that differ from Google Sheets formulas, could need a little more detail. It would be wonderful to have a simple way to manage the play ground environment.

AppSheet as a no-code platform

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Very nice to have such a "Studio" to build and configure your mobile app. It is suitable for a small number of users.

Pros:

How easy to create a "Listing" based apps like eCommerce apps. It is a real no-code platform

Cons:

Two things:1- Managing relations between various tables (lists - objects)2- Pricing is relatively high in case the app number of users is big

Want to develop mobile apps? Then you hit an exact match!

5.0 9 years ago

Comments: I have met AppSheet while I was searching the net on how to develop a mobile app from an Excel file. It was a DIY platform, pretty well organized and have some sample apps to show. To be honest, I though that these guys must either be kidding me, or the output is useless on the first sight. Simply, the platform was an add-on to Google Docs. But after I've started to build an app for myself and began to understand the limits of it, I can proudly express that with only one word: "EXCELLENT". Yeah, it is excellent because: 1.) The platform's limit is your limit. There is no end (up to a certain extent for sure) to what you can do and develop. When you get used to it day by day, you think that you've learned it. However, suddenly, you feel that you are not even close to that idea :) Though I have a programming background and using AppSheet about 8 months, I can gladly say that "I'm still a newbie"...
2.) AppSheet is strong and AppSheet is really future pending. The reason is quite simple: though AppSheet is a small business enterprise, they have a very intimate, strong and professional customer care and management, which you cannot even find it in huge enterprises or corporate companies. We (yes, "we") are like a family in AppSheet from the senior to the junior.
3.) Have you problems with your development? AppSheet moderators, programmers, scripters are always by your side and they do not even skip a tiny message even if it might be silly or irrelevant.
4.) Do you have requests? Do you need features? Provided it's not so far away or not bounded by strict API policies (because of Google), depending on the priority list of the team, sooner or later you will have it. Just be patient and give them some time. Though how you quickly need it or how urgent it might be or how crucial it might be; just remember that they are 'simply' humans...
5.) The platform have a wonderful Community page in Google+ where you have the chance to meet wonderful people from all over the world with different apps, different needs, different requests etc. With this, you will also have the chance to develop your abilities and limits by learning from them. Community owns outstanding moderators who are also exprienced AppSheet developers. Each post is replied with great care and with light speed. This is the place where you feel the warmth of a family, intimacy and you clearly see how everyone cares about you and your problems.

very good tool to create your own mobile application in a matter of seconds for Android and iOS

5.0 7 years ago

Pros:

if you want to have a mobile application for Android and iOS AppSheet is a good tool for that. allows us to create a mobile application quickly and easily from its tools and where it offers us to start testing your application for free. The good thing about AppSheet is that it is not necessary to know the programming codes to develop our application. We can do it in a simple way and where we can find enough documentation on the web to guide us and build a mobile application.

Cons:

Although AppSheet offers a lot of tools and ways to develop an app we can find a development limitation and problems that would not be the case if the development were done with code.

A Review of AppSheet.

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: The graphic user interface involving toggle buttons and icons are very helpful and increase efficiency in app creation. Overall this great mobile app has saved us a lot of headache. Highly recommended for industry firms that might specialize in keeping track of sales and also the hospitality sector.

Pros:

AppSheet has been an incredible mobile application. It has helped our company to establish high quality iOS and Android apps. It's helpful that AppSheet can draw information directly from Excel spreadsheets and from items uploaded to Dropbox. The customizable apps generated are gorgeous. Company logos and colors can be as abstract or sleek as imaginable and apps can be updated by the end user. It's great! Lots of support, and fair pricing that is on a per month basis. Nothing shady.

Cons:

I will say AppSheet takes a bit of time to get through the learning curve. Brand new users might experience some frustration. But after the initial learning period, AppSheet definitely becomes easy.

I was looking for a solution and this checked all the boxes.

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I was tasked with a specific challenge and after scowering the Internet and testing similar spreadsheet-to-app solutions that were simply frustrating, this platform fit the challenge and allowed me to expand my solution with automation features and other nifty hacks that really made my solution sing.

Pros:

The learning curve has not been steep for engaging with this platform. I loved how it pulls quickly from Google Sheets and updates /syncs data rapidly.

Cons:

Pages are difficult to really design as the platform is highly reliant on pulling from the spreadsheet. I would like more flexibility in laying out page views and organizing the menu structures.

AppSheet is a nice way to build custom apps using your google spreadsheet data

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Nice interface and features. The app for mobile devices also seemed to work well.

Pros:

I love that i was able to build a small app for personal use that pulled data from a couple of my google spreadsheets. There were great features that showed that appsheet designers understand the importance of data integrity and included features and settings that could allow someone who wants to try to build an interface for their spreadsheet. i like that there was some syncing features so that you could edit data even when you did not have mobile reception on your smartphone with the app installed.

Cons:

Like anything of this nature it does require to practice and playing to understand the features. To a complete newbie, they may not understand some of the protections you need to build in in order to protect your spreadsheet data especially when multiple users might edit things, but the settings to do so are in the app. It is also a lot simpler than many other no code options and could be a great way for someone to build some personal data tools to make their life easier.

Comments: Easy and accurate to trackdown sales and listings for real estate properties that we are selling. Reporting is absolutely executed well. The sales goes up when your client can easily pinpoint at the map where they wanted the location and what are their other options in the area.

Pros:

Perfect and easy way to develop an app. No programming knowledge necessary. Very comprehensive. Use Google Sheets as yoir database.

Cons:

Well to really have the best of the appsheet software you have to pay for their subscription plan but if its just for pesonal use you can still use it for free.

Excellent app for people who are not programmers

5.0 8 years ago

Comments: We have other applications that are built by programmers and this is an easier application to adjust and improve upon quickly.

Pros:

This is a great way to develop applications that work for your specific need. There are many options of functions that can be performed in this application, and there is a low cost to rolling the apps out. They are constantly updating the features of the application making it more user friendly. It is really great that it works of a database in google, which gives it a very stable platform and is easy to switch between users in the app and administrators who may need to cull the data.

Cons:

If you are not in the programming world some of the functions are a little more complicated to use, and take some trial and error.
