Entering grades is easy and efficient, and I appreciate that I can create my own classes when I need them rather than relying on administration for every adjustment. At the same time, the system is sophisticated enough to handle the more complex needs of a charter school. After nine years of using it, I’ve also been impressed with how responsive Alma has been to feedback and how the system has evolved to meet our school’s needs. > > **Cons**: Cons: Initial setup can take some time, particularly at the beginning of the school year when administration is entering and organizing student information and class assignments. However, much of that is simply the reality of setting up a school information system with hundreds of students rather than a problem with Alma itself. As a very small school with limited in-house tech staff, Alma was almost completely self explanatory. Between the chat and videos, almost all questions were answered. The Wednesday sessions online were also great. Once we did need major assistance to correct a major error in initial set up (we chose a 7 day week and not a 5 day week). The folks under the hood took care of the problem and got us back on track without losing any of our data. For the price, Alma provided every features we had needed and used in Blackbaud. > > **Cons**: The Bell Schedule concept should be reviewed VERY carefully before you get started to avoid problems. Our schedule was in flux when we started which added to our challenges. Once we got it set up properly it worked perfectly even with our non-standard schedules. > > Ease of use. Great interface.
