Reviews of BigCommerce
I prefer BigCommerce for its simplicity and ease of use
Comments: BigCommerce has been the answer to all of the problems that have plagued my online store. Adding and managing products has never been simpler than it is on this site. With just a few clicks, I can make simple, customizable, and downloadable products.
Pros:
In every way, BigCommerce is the ideal platform for my company. This platform's dashboard is fantastic, and I appreciate how simple it makes managing and uploading stock. The quickness and dexterity that has been put into protecting and expanding my product sales has met with my complete satisfaction. To run my online store without any restrictions and in a professional manner is a dream come true.
Cons:
Although there are times when certain features do not function properly, such as when I am unable to access the applications within the back end or when newly updated features are not compatible with my configuration since I am still using an earlier version of BigCommerce, I have been using the platform for years.
great way to do business
Comments: Overall great experience and happy to use big commerce on daily basis for ecommerce business. Thanks.
Pros:
Everything so far as it's easy and fast to many critical process.
Cons:
Reporting needs changes as return reports have full refund but not able to run for partial refunds.
BIGCOMMERC-FRAUDERS!
Cons:
BIGCOMMERC-FRAUDERS! Return the money!!! Terrible. Nothing works! Impossible to change the topic...No feedback. Read reviews before contacting them. Not a single good review. These are scammers!
Review of BigCommerce
Pros:
BigCommerce extends a secure and reliable platform to create customizable apps without sacrificing a lot of time. This creates room for attraction for users.
Cons:
BigCommerce may require more development for extensive projects. It is important to check project scope before considering BigCommerce no matter the business type of small business or enterprise.
BigCommerce
Comments: I am very impressed with BC and feel it would be a good fit for people with little ecommerce experience.
Pros:
Provides simply set up and easy to load products.
Cons:
no access to database - even read only. If we had access to database, we could create a number of reports we currently dont have access to.
Good Platform but has some fatal flaws
Comments: Not bad for simple stores. Support is responsive, but isn't very helpful. It's strange how many times I've contact developer support and said oops, looks like we don't have documentation for that. They roll out upgrades to their backend that are still very buggy.
Pros:
Easy product management, plenty of payment gateways available, decent theme store. Handles product options / variants better than Shopify. Has some good B2B / wholesale features out of the box.
Cons:
Themes are over bloated with way too many files. You can't edit the CSS and JS files online. Makes relatively easy changes (on other platforms) too time consuming. Often suffers from indexing delays and/ or caching issues so that your changes or new products you add take 30+ minutes to show up on the site. Main navigation menu is automated. You have to either hard code a menu or use an app if you want customizations to your menu. Stencil CLI can either work smoothly for editing themes or you'll spend hours chasing down compatibility issues. No way in store to easily find orphan pages.
Alternatives Considered: WooCommerce and Shopify
Great ecomm site for your business
Comments: I like the metrics & the options available
Pros:
Customer support is great, they get you fixed up really quick
Cons:
nothing really. Maybe could include a few more features for the base pricing. other than that, it's great
best way to manage eCommerce business
Comments: Great experience. Worth spending bucks on software as got high return and peace of mind.
Pros:
Everything is so easy to work with and helps us a lot to focus on eCommerce business.
Cons:
So far nothing has bothered us in a wrong way
Great solution for ecommerce
Comments: It's a great tool to create a ecommerce store from scratch
Pros:
Easy to create and manage an online store. It's quite smooth to use and straightforward.
Cons:
User interface could be improved and more efficient.
Great platform if you have the right people managing it
Comments: It is a great platform for those who are looking to build out something big if you're a starter I recommend working with experts.
Pros:
It is a great platform that you can build out into an e-commerce machine.
Cons:
There are some quirks with it that, if you are not aware of, you will get lost or need to hire experts.
Alternatives Considered: Shopify
It's been a nice long relationship
Comments: Overall, it's been pretty smooth sailing. Customer service is ALWAYS there and trying to help the best they can. They never leave me in the dark. Way easier and faster site than dealing with Magento.
Pros:
I have used Bigcommerce for over 8 years. Overall, I think it works better and at a more reasonable cost than other related platforms.
Cons:
I have 1k parent skus with 11k child skus. It will not import my large spreadsheet. So if there is a major price change from my brands, it's impossible to import my vendor's .csv or excel sheet. We have to update each regular price and sale price one by one. Takes way too much time to permanantly discount items / sales too.
Alternatives Considered: Shopify
Reasons for Choosing BigCommerce: Magento was a never ending money pit and operated very slowly.
Reasons for Switching to BigCommerce: Shopify charges fees for every sale. Overall with all the apps you need to buy with Shopify, Bigcommerce had more features out of the box. I still had to buy 4-5 apps. But I would have had to invest much more money with Shopify. Which wouldn't be enough money left for me to operate the rest of my business.
Bigcommerce edged out the competition for my online store.
Comments: I tried several shopping cart e-commerce solutions and found that Bigcommerce suited my needs the most. I ended up using a free style template and customized it myself saving me a lot of money. Online and phone support are top notch!
Pros:
The ease of use was a major factor in my decision to go with Bigcommerce. There are many choices out there for online retailers to build their storefront. I liked the ease of customization and the large amount of standard features. Their integration with online marketplaces and social media really saves a lot of time.
Cons:
There is an annual sales cap that I'm worried about, but when I get to that point I will just upgrade the service to where I need it. There are not enough free store style templates available. Custom styles get very costly. Some features that should be standard are non existent.
Alternatives Considered: Shopify
Reasons for Choosing BigCommerce: I liked the layout and template choices more with Bigcommerce.
Switched From: Shopify
Reasons for Switching to BigCommerce: For my use, it was the superior product.
Bigcommerce the best!
Pros:
It's a very good software that adapts to any format. I really like its ease of use and the simplicity of its user interface, and it has all the functionality for e-commerce.
Cons:
When you first start using it, it's a bit complicated, but over time you get the hang of it.
BigCommerce
Comments: This platform has everything you need to design, sell, and ship products and services online. I highly recommend it!
Pros:
Bigcommerce is a fully featured ecommerce platform that is designed for anyone to get up and running to sell online. In addition to its simple and easy-to-use online store builder, Bigcommerce comes with a full arsenal of features including inventory management, payment processing, shipping options and more. With Bigcommerce, you can set up an account and be selling within a few minutes.
Cons:
Bigcommerce is a great ecommerce platform but needs some knowledge to better handle it.
The Perfect Solution For My Needs
Comments: I have been using BigCommerce for the past year to run my online store, and I am extremely satisfied with its performance. One of the standout features of this software is its robust and user-friendly e-commerce platform. It's easy to set up and manage products, process orders, and handle shipping and tax calculations.Another feature that I really appreciate is the integration with various payment gateways, such as PayPal and Stripe. This has made it easy for me to accept payments from my customers and has streamlined my checkout process.Overall, I highly recommend BigCommerce to any business owner looking for a reliable and feature-rich e-commerce platform. Its many features and intuitive design make it a valuable asset for any online store.
Pros:
One of the biggest benefits of BigCommerce is its comprehensive marketing and SEO tools. These tools have helped me to effectively promote my products and drive traffic to my store. For example, I have used the built-in email marketing tool to send targeted campaigns to my customers, and I have used the SEO tools to optimize my product pages for search engines.
Cons:
BigCommerce provides a wide range of features and functionality, but some users may find that they are limited in their ability to customize certain aspects of their store. For example, users may not be able to fully customize the design or layout of their store, or they may be limited in their ability to add custom functionality or integrations.
BigCommerce Review
Comments: We wanted an ecommerce platform that can help us manage our online orders, manage our content on the store and website and manage SKUs and shipments all in one platform. The product has been great and offers great features
Pros:
-Easy to use as compared to other ecommerce platforms -Managing orders and inventory is very easy -Great for designing online storefront -Great for both B2B and B2C
Cons:
The pricing is a trap, it increases with the use of different add ons
Great product for eCommercing
Comments: Overall, had a great experience using BigCommerce. I think it's one of the most popular, high quality, user friendly eCommerce platform out there.
Pros:
The tech support is really helpful whenever you get stuck with something. They're quick and very knowledgeable. The product itself is very user friendly in terms of managing your inventory, shipping rates and individual products.
Cons:
For me, it was hard to edit or create custom sections in the theme file. Also, the paid version of themes are pretty pricey.
Alternatives Considered: Shopify
Reasons for Switching to BigCommerce: It's basically cheaper
I love BigCommerce
Comments: Whenever an order is placed, I see it immediately in my email. I print the invoice, pass off to my staff, and they process using Ship Station, which is integrated through BigCommerce. All of our sales are saved and easy to search through on BigCommerce. When working with changing the look, etc., of the site, very easy to do. Customer service. Love the live chat option, and whenever I call I can talk with someone very quickly. Excellent service.
Pros:
My business is a healthcare practice with a brick and mortar shop and online store for purchasing products and services. BigCommerce has been so easy to work with. I have been with them for some 10 years plus and couldn't be more satisfied. Customer service is top-notch, fast, and always available 24/7.
Cons:
I want to be able to go in and make a printable catalogue. I don't know that any software provides that, so not a complaint.
Good Until You Need To Integrate It With Other Software
Comments: Overall, I like BigCommerce's eCommerce software, however I don't think it's for anyone that had a psychical store trying to start out online. If you are selling online only, it could be a good option.
Pros:
Overall, for just only eCommerce, BigCommerce is great, and I have been using it for 10 years now. It is easy to use and customize, and has lots of great features (however you do have to pay for higher end features). No percentage fee is nice for smaller stores, but once you get to a certain scale, others offer no percentage as well with way more features.
Cons:
The worst part about BigCommerce is their ability to integrate with outside software. Many small eCommerce stores are based out of a physical retail store, and there is NO easy, cheap, or even good way to integrate your in-store inventory with your BigCommerce inventory. For instance, if you use the popular Square POS in your retail shop, you have to pay an expensive 3rd party software for a janky, somewhat working system to that keeps your online inventory in sync with Square, so when you sell something in the store, it removes that stock online. BigCommerce refuses to take this issue seriously, which is unfortunate because I can't recommend it to anyone that has a physical retail store and wants to keep live inventory online.
BigCommerce Review
Comments: BigCommerce is a platform that has helped me to build my online store. It is easy to use and has a wide variety of features that allow you to customize your store to your needs. I have found the customer service to be excellent, and they are always available to help you with any questions or problems you may have. Overall, I would highly recommend BigCommerce to anyone looking to build an online store.
Pros:
There are many reasons to love BigCommerce, but here are just a few of the top pros: 1. BigCommerce is incredibly easy to use, even for beginners. The platform is intuitive and straightforward, so you can start selling products right away. 2. There are tons of features and integrations available, so you can customize your store to fit your unique needs. 3. BigCommerce is reliable and secure, so you can feel confident that your data is safe and protected. 4. Customer support is excellent, and they're always happy to help with any questions or issues you may have. 5. The platform is constantly evolving and improving, so you can always count on getting the latest features and updates.
Cons:
BigCommerce doesn't offer as much flexibility as other platforms when it comes to design and customization.
Terrific admin UI and purchaser experience - BigCommerce will not fix bugs customers find
Comments: The software has been solid for our customers and the administration UI is very easy to use. We have outstanding technical issues that have been open for more than a year and are still not resolved (HTTP status 500 errors that intermittently are returned from their backend APIs) - they say they cannot see the errors in their backend logs and we must send them examples even though we have this happen 10-12 times a day, continually, for over a year. Their Stripe integration does not include the email address field when they send payment requests to Stripe, so customers do not get a credit card receipt from Stripe. Requesting this be changed resulted in them telling us only 1 other customer wanted this feature and that we should switch to Authorize or Brain Tree because it works with those processors) - this felt like a move to downplay the use of Stripe and push us towards vendors that BigCommerce perhaps prefers? It is hard to believe we are the only customer that would want Stripe to send CC receipts to customers - their built-in receipt mechanism does not allow a store to include the last 4 digits of the credit card in the receipt the store sends, which means customers have to call in to customer support when they are organizational customers to figure out which CC is used - a very poor experience for our customers and for our customer support team.
Pros:
It is highly customizable, has most of the features you'd expect in an e-commerce solution, and the APIs are well-documented.
Cons:
* Seemingly easy solutions to known issues get stuck in their support bureaucracy and disappear * Their logging does not allow software engineers nor CSRs to see the specifics of errors - customers must provide client-side stack traces to help them find errors on their backend (for example, API calls that return HTTP status 500)
If you are serious about growing your business, there is no other platform to consider.
Comments: For the most part, BC is attentive and addresses our issues. Reps change more frequently than I would like and they are not very helpful. Most aren't there long enough to learn the position. The core staff and the support team are second to none. There is not one weak link on the support team. You will not understand how important this is until you need help from another provider and wait 30 minutes to talk to someone who knows less about the product than you and learned English as a second or third language.
Pros:
BigCommerce Support is not only the best there for an e-commerce platform. It is the single best support compared to every provider I have ever used. They answer the phones quickly. The person who picks up the phone knows what he/she is doing. Calls never have to be escalated and the issue is (almost) always resolved. My issues are normally fixed within 10 minutes of picking up the phone to dial. BC doesn't waste your time. PCI compliance was a big part of why we moved. BC takes it all on. We no longer have to provide scan reports or do any paperwork. Consistent conversion rates - there are few ups and downs. I can depend on my site to be functional. Adding products, categories and landing pages is simple. 2 months after moving to BigCommerce I let my entire development team go. We no longer needed any of them. Training an employee to add products takes just a few minutes.
Cons:
Some things seem to take forever to get done. 301 redirects are difficult to manage and a fix has been in and out of the works for years. Product page load times can exceed 1000ms. Mobile PageSpeed is big in Google's eyes and we are slower than average.
BigCommerce is the best e-commerce platform that ever existed
Comments: The product is recommended for both B2C and B2B offers very user-friendly interface and outstanding customer services. We have managed our online store with BigCommerce and the company made us convert more than any other previous platforms.
Pros:
The platform is simply extraordinary, very easy to use. -Great for web design and managing content within the website/online store -You can easily offer vouchers and discounts with add ons to prospects -Managing orders and processing orders is very simple and straightforward -Processing payments is great -Great for reviewing all the products and helps prospects decide what to buy
Cons:
-I would only point out as the pricing of the platform is the strength of the product as it is not expensive, but every add on comes with additional price which adds up for us. -Time to time updating themes have been problematic
Would switch if I could find something better
Pros:
Easy to get up and running. Features are some of the best offered in this class. Pricing doesn't take a cut off of sales.
Cons:
Many advanced features lacking or cost extra, like filtered search and navigation. Bugs are fixed and new features are added based on number of requests as opposed to the severity or need of the fix or feature. As a result, some bugs can persist for years if only a few people have reported them. No release notes or detailed info on updates. Overall it seems the company is still run more like a startup as instead of an established company that's accountable to their customers. Seems they focus more on doing things that get them headlines, marketing material, and talking points instead of what most meets their customer's needs. They can be quite tonedeaf when it comes to understanding the way retail works and what the needs of small businesses really are. It's quite a shame as there is a lot of potential. The only reason I stay is because either the better platforms are unaffordable (Magento, Demandware, Netsuite, Miva, etc) or the ones comparable in price lack essential features or have their own problems that I can't workaround (Shopify, Volusion, etc.) So I'm stuck until we grow more. Don't get me wrong, they have improved greatly in the 6 years I've been with them, but they have a long way to go.
An excellent hosting e-commerce platform with almost all enterprise features
Comments: We have migrated our Magento 1 site to BigCommerce after ongoing frustration with Magento 2.3 extension quality and caching issues. We've achieved a lot in a 2 week period and launched in a month.
Pros:
The stability of it is great. The admin UI is very easy to use and intuitive. It has advanced pricing controls and other B2B features. The templates are great and we really saved a lot of time with a customization. If you have strong e-commerce skills in house, I honestly believe you can be live in a month or two. We found ourselves solving lots of problems that we'd normally require a developer for. It's very robust if you can stay on its rails. There are a lot of plug-ins, although some are expensive with monthly subscriptions.
Cons:
The standard shipping features are very lacking and basic, and the solution is to use a plug-in. Although a free account with the plug-in is provided, it's inadequate and a subscription ended up costing us hundreds of dollars a month. The shipping system is even inadequate for basic stores. It's also lacking some functionality like product priority within categories, and limits faceted filters to 12 which required us to re-jig a bit of stuff and remove some filters. So the merchandising can be limiting at times. We could also do with native support for SVG images, and a static block CMS. Support is slow and you can be waiting 2 days for a reply. So although it is easy to use, if you do hit a wall, you need to wait a while for support. However, even with these caveats, we still found it to be a better solution to what we were using.
