I love Expensify, I miss it, but CORE has more features

5.0 last year

Pros:

User friendliness is uncomparable. Straigforward options and clear visuals.

Cons:

The lack of billing, invoicing and cost tracking features. This is why we switched to CORE. I hate CORE. I love Expensify. I miss it

This software is the best in its category.

5.0 9 months ago

Pros:

We have been using Expensify for a long time and syncing it with different systems, including Workday and Netsuite. Expensify allows us to customize our policies to include custom fields from Netsuite which is a good feature. The approval workflow is straightforward and user-friendly, and the best part is that it doesn't require any training. Approvers can easily review expense reports with receipts attached to expenses. We reviewed other competitors' software and found them either expensive or not up to par. However, Expensify is a true value for money.

Cons:

So far no complaints and it serves the purpose.

Attention

1.0 11 months ago

Cons:

I am writing to bring to your attention a profoundly concerning issue that I have encountered with your company's customer service procedures. It is imperative that everyone be made aware of how customers are treated within your organization. To provide context, I recently registered an account with your company and underwent a series of verification processes. During these verifications, I was requested to obtain a letter of verification from my bank. Upon communicating with my bank, I was informed that such a letter could not be provided. Instead, we agreed to proceed with a phone verification process. Subsequently, your support team instructed me to schedule a phone verification appointment. However, my appointment was canceled two hours prior to the scheduled time without explanation. I was then asked to undergo the verification process again, including re-uploading my identification documents. Despite completing these steps, I was still asked to provide verification using another form of identification, despite having already used my California Real ID. Feeling increasingly disappointed and frustrated after three days of continuous demands for documents and unreasonable requests, I expressed my frustration by using the F-word twice. Regrettably, a representative from your company responded by threatening to discontinue service and implied transferring my case to another support member. However, when I requested assistance from another support member, I was told, "I'm not going to assign you to anyone else in our team until you're able to avoid being aggressive with our team." I wish to emphasize that my use of inappropriate language was limited to two instances of the F-word. Furthermore, I was assured that your company does not have managers, and I was refused the opportunity to be assigned to another support team member. Subsequently, the support chat was abruptly terminated, and I have been unable to locate a valid telephone number for further communication. It is deeply concerning that, despite providing personal and banking information, as well as linking my bank account, I was subjected to punitive measures for the use of mild profanity. This treatment is entirely disproportionate and unacceptable. I am formally requesting a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action to rectify the situation. Additionally, I expect assurance that my account and personal information are handled with the utmost respect and security. I anticipate your prompt attention to this issue and a satisfactory resolution. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss further.

Good Tool. Gone Woke

5.0 8 months ago

Comments: Loved this product until it went woke. I wish they would just process receipts rather than push agendas.

Pros:

We loved this tool. It worked so well for our nonprofit. It integrated well with credit cards and payments.

Cons:

Two things completely turned me off of Expensify. THey started integrating DEI into their marketing. I remember coming to the site and they had splashed all over the screen BLM material. I dont need their progressive ideals of BLM or pride shoved at me. Just process receipts. The second thing that turned me off was that I was no longer able to connect with my primary banks.

Perfect Tool to track expenses

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: Expensify is the right tool if you want a simple yet effective tool to keep a trace of your expenses and receipts. It's very useful for professional and personal use.

Pros:

I've been using Expensify for many years now to keep track of my monthly expenses and get a full and proper report for our accountant. Expensify offers few but essential options, even with the free version. You upload receipts from your cellphone, get them scanned and their information automatically filled within Expensify. The reports are clear and complete. Overall, it does exactly what you would expect from such a tool.

Cons:

Some options are "hidden" and not easy to find in the first place, making the tool acting strangely. For example, last year, at some point, without doing anything on my part, my reports were automatically closed and sent to my manager before they were completed. I had to go and change the settings in a part of the options I've never used/seen before. After that, all was good though.

Great mobile solution for all users

Cons:

Cost and reporting features. I wish there were more options to pull reports and show the detail of the receipts attached. Better linking with emailed receipts.

Terrible Implemention Experience

2.0 9 months ago

Comments: Terrible implementation experience: Expensify is not taking ownership of an incomplete implementation. Iam writing this poor review out of exasperation with their poor customer support.

Pros:

In evaluating this solution, we liked the demonstrated functionality, relatively low cost, and credit card offering.

Cons:

The implementation experience has been terrible. The approach is not well organized. Early on we had problems "whitelisting" the Expensify ACH codes which we quickly rectified on our end, but it took Expensify nearly 10 days to restore related services. Then for some reason the integration with Xero stopped working in late March and one month later is has not been resolved. The only human we can speak with is our implementation coordinator which is frustrating because this is clearly a technical issue. I have asked on multiple occasions to speak with someone who can solve this issue only to be told that there is no one else I can speak with. Unacceptable.

Expensify for Small Businesses

4.0 7 months ago

Pros:

Expensify was easy to customize (both fields, and groups for employees), so we were able to use it for our exact needs and set up different parameters for different groups of employees. The mobile features are also very useful.

Cons:

It would be helpful to be able to customize some of the automized report submissions, and customize various reminders to send out to employees.

Simplifies a painful process

5.0 last year

Pros:

Once you've got the hang of using it, Expensify will make managing expenses simple. I've done the same thing with paper, spreadsheets and Concur and the experiences were terrible and mistake ridden. Just put everything through expensify and forget about it. If you've missed something or have an action to complete expensify will get in touch to prompt you with clear instructions.

Cons:

There is a bit of learning curve. I find the UI quite sparse and until you get the hang of what is where it's not always clear how to complete tasks with it. I have found that once you have learned what you're doing though, you don't foget because it's not actually that complicated.

As a user, it's overall easy to use. Could be easier though.

4.0 last year

Comments: Overall, it's decent. I like the app availability.

Pros:

I like that I can see past receipts and expenses. I also like the app.

Cons:

There do seem to be some areas that require too many steps, in my opinion. For example, if I wanted to mark down that there were others at the dinner table, there are several extra steps that you need to go through.

Can't compete with new kids on the block

2.0 last year

Comments: It just doesn't compete with new expense reporting systems that have awesome new features, are free, and have great UX.

Pros:

Not much now that I found an alternative expense reporting system for my company. Expensify was great when there was little other competition. The price was more reasonable than others. The receipt matching was decent, and it was awesome to have it integrated with Quickbooks to reduce financial admin.

Cons:

It is very clunky and slow. It would take forever to pull reports, make changes, or create pdfs. It is also expensive in comparison to new kids on the block that are more feature rich with advanced technology that are free.

Expensify makes things easy

5.0 last year

Comments: Great product! It really makes it nearly impossible to lose receipts or not claim business expenses.

Pros:

Expensify makes tracking receipts and sending them to the business office flawless. As long as you take a picture, the rest is easy.

Cons:

There’s nothing I don’t like about Expensify. It’s easy. The only suggestion is something it thinks two charges are duplicates when they’re not but Expensify lets you resolve it easily.

It's alright

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: It is difficult to navigate the site since there are so many ways to do the same thing. It has great features but you don't always know they are there.

Pros:

I think the "default rate" for gas reimbursement is one of the best features they offer... that we utilize. It is great to have a rate set to the market of the person in the field because we have employees across the country, gas prices vary, and we want to fairly reimburse people. It is much easier than having to set a rate ourselves, monitor it, and change it as the market does.

Cons:

It's not the most user friendly site to navigate. It is difficult to figure out how to submit an expense without some playing around. Since there are several ways to submit an expense, it is hard to tell if you are done and set to be reimbursed.

A swift and easy way to ensure work expenses are refunded in an organised, accessible manner

5.0 last year

Pros:

I just love that I can scan a receipt or upload a photo and have my expenses signed off before a work trip is even complete.

Cons:

Sometimes I get a little confused with the codes but that's more organisational issues than a reflection on the software itself.

Expensify in vet med

Comments: Expensify has been much easier to help keep track of monthly expenses and has a clean, uncomplicated interface.

Pros:

It helps keep track of all my finances in one place instead of multiple folders, Google drives, etc.

an essential tool for cost control

4.0 2 years ago

Pros:

The user interface is intuitive and easy to use, making data entry fast and efficient. In addition, Expensify has an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature that automatically converts receipt images into editable text, saving even more time on manual data entry.

Cons:

Sometimes OCR is not completely accurate and requires manual review, which can be a bit tedious. Also, integration with other accounting applications can be somewhat limited.
