choose better software
About Buildertrend
Our mission is to bring order and efficiency to the construction process for all contractors.
Easy to use and understandUser friendly data interpretations and data setsMultiple intergration options.
My only complaint is not so much with the software itself as it is with back end users. For this software to work to its full potential it needs to be fully utilized.

Buildertend, 1 year user review
Comments: I find its interface comfortable and the customer feels secure.
Pros:
It allows better communication between us, the company, and the customer. This allows the client to know how the work is progressing and for us to make the corrections he wants.
Cons:
The cost is somewhat high, but it is still cost-effective to use. It also does not have many integrations with construction applications.

Great Platform - Bit Pricey
Comments: Overall, we would still be using BuilderTrend if it was more affordable, and if the features that are not compatible with a Canadian company could be accommodated. It would also be helpful to have Canadian billing to keep the cost more affordable for small business.
Pros:
The platform itself is very well set up. Once you complete the BuilderTrend role training it is very easy to navigate all aspects of the system from lead status to completion.
Cons:
Compared to other platforms that are set up almost the same, we found BuilderTrend to be quite expensive. There are also features that are not compatible with a Candian company as they are American, which also added to the overall cost due to the exchange rate.

Builder for future
Pros:
Customer support was excellent . Navigation through modules . Integration with QBooks.
Cons:
this platform mostly design for residential construction but we are municipal /commercial contractors.
Great from prep to 5 star review!
Comments: It has been rewarding learning how to utilize this tool to keep our company egfective and informed from prep to finish!
Pros:
Helps to link everyone together for proper project coordination and great clarity.
Cons:
Nothing at all. Sometimes i turn the schedule online before setting everything, but i am learning and am very thanful for the learning courses to help overcome snags :)
BuildTrend - Perfect Software for any Builder
Comments: Aces!
Pros:
This is a great software for a small to mid-size builder. It has all the bells and whistles, plus integrates with QB so no double entry. It is an excellent inexpensive solutions from pre-con to warranty.
Cons:
We need to work on the integration between QB and BT. And I believe it is something that is being done.

AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS
Comments: In short, awful. I would never do business with this company after the way we were treated. The salesman was hands down the most arrogant and unprofessional person I have spoken to in my research for a new PSA management software for our firm. I would avoid builder trend at all costs!
Pros:
The features they offer are great but their company culture and the people they employ are unprofessional and rude.
Cons:
The salesman assigned to our account was very rude and unprofessional. We were ready to purchase the software but decided not to because we were sooo turned off by their rude and unprofessional salesman.
Best construction management app
Pros:
Well, Buildertrend made my life a lot easier. The best thing about it is that I can assign the jobs for the subcontractors and see everything through their Daily Logs. I dont need to go to the field to see the details, I can easily manage the job just looking to the pictures and the information that they upload. It also logs the date, time and location of each update, which I can use as proof that we finish that job on that specific time, and if something happened after that it was not our fault.
Cons:
I dont have anything to complaing about BuilderTrend, it is being really helpful. I can easily assign and close jobs using it, it is simple and really helpful.
Alternatives Considered:
Don't waste your time or money.
Comments: Cumbersome dinosaur of a product that doesn't live up to its potential. We now use Ressio software and find it much more easy to adopt, a more honest sales team, and easy to use and integrate into our processes.
Pros:
I didn't really like anything about Buildertrend except for their promises for usefulness.
Cons:
That they repeatedly told me that the software could do something that it could not in fact do. After I was thousands of dollars into it with subscription fees and set up labor including countless hours on the phone with their support - we discovered that it could not in fact do what the salesperson said it could. Major waste of my time.
Good features in Buildertrend CRM
Comments: Overall Buildertrend is great for keeping the sales team organized.
Pros:
It's a good CRM offering for the construction industry.
Cons:
Limited integrations make it a little "hands on" for your tech people.
Gets the job done
Comments: Found the program easy to use. Lots of information can be loaded
Pros:
Easy to navigate. Very user friendly easy to understand
Cons:
All good Have nothing negative to report

Now that our company has grown, this program meets our needs better
Comments: Last year when we first were shown the program we decided not to go forward. Now our that our company has grown, we see that BuilderTrend will be crucial for keeping ourselves and our crews organized. The rocky portions of the software do not outway the usefulness to our company. There is a learning curve and a lot of things to iron out as we implement it, but I can see it being a huge asset compared to other programs once we nail it down. On top of that, I know their team will keep improving the features and adding more features to a program that is already rich with features.
Pros:
The best feature in this program is communication and scheduling. Also, where other programs have to borrow from many 3rd party programs to achieve their functions, this program is able to incorporate all in one. We are using it for every step of the construction process, from sales to estimates, to job management and scheduling and invoicing. Other neat features include requesting bids to subs and vendors within the program, financing for customers, interactive and customize-able selections for customers within the program. There are other features not mentioned in this review as well. The main point is that this program offers all management needs for builders and contractors, and the software team continues to update and add features according to the requests and needs of those who are using the program. Also, where competitors charge extra for each user, this company includes unlimited users in their package, as well as unlimited subs and vendors. Some of the functions you would have to pay extra for in other programs like scheduling for crew etc. are included in their main package. Therefore the price, and what you get for your money is way better.
Cons:
This software is a little more difficult to learn than other competing programs, due to it's complexity and depth of features. At times it's a bit overwhelming, though that is to be expected with the level of depth. Also some other programs have a general appearance which makes the program more inviting and user friendly. That being said, we still moved forward with this program because of the need for more features without having to pay all the extra money. One feature they really need to improve is their proposal builder. They have good formatting options and cost codes/ item catalogs where you can build price lists within the system, but when you add items into the estimate or create a big template, when you want to go and edit info like quantities etc. you have to go through an ocean of items that are not clearly formatted (they have a worksheet tab for editing items, and a format tab for grouping and changing layout for final appearance, but the worksheet portion is unformatted, and in the format section you cannot delete items or change them at all. Therefore I found the proposal functions to be a bit rocky to deal with. However, buildertrend users can vote on improvements for the program and so there is at least light at the end of the tunnel.

Buildertrend is not for painters
Comments: There training, on boarding and customer support is top notch! When I first started using the software I really liked it but once we got tons of leads and jobs going it became almost unmanageable.
Pros:
The client portal is awesome! I wish my current software has one as nice and interactive as BT’s. The dashboard is great as well. I like the daily logs as well, it’s a great little communication tool for project management. Finally the sub portal is fantastic.
Cons:
It’s difficult to run reports for lead management and marketing. When setting up the Fanny it is dependent on the previous stage, however if someone is assigned to a stage and it doesn’t get Mark as complete on the day it was supposed to there is no automatic dependency, it’s all manual. So for us when there is 30 projects in different pre, in progress and post production phases, it’s a lot to go in and figure out. If you have less than five projects going then it’s fine.

Thoughts on BuilderTrend from a Remodeling company perspective
Comments:
Solved the time that it took to email out the schedule to all trades and team now it flows alot better and I answer the phone alot less. Since most of the answers trades and the team are looking for are on BT they can find most of what they need there as long as we input the info they have what they need.
BuilderTrend gives me more time and freedom to do what owners of a business should be doing. It was one of the best choices I have made to start using it.
Pros:
The scheduling feature is what we use most. Its nice to have all the info to our trades and managers so they are fully aware of the project, can see pictures, and have a full scope of work prior to start date. We use the estimating part of the software as well I do wish the contract section had more detail in it which I think it could if we took some extra time to develop that.
Cons:
Very happy now I can have as many job starts as I would like instead of being limited. Little unhappy that I can have only 3 users and have to pay for more than 3. As the owner who does estimates I want access as a user. I also have a designer who does estimates and she needs access. I also have 2 project managers/carpenters that need access to it as well so I will be looking at having to pay for additional users on top of the price increase I have already incurred but making it unlimited job starts. Haven't fully used BT to its full potential but we will at some point. The software is top notch I don't have really any complaints that I can think of at this time.

Great versatility for GC and also useful for an architectural drafter
Comments: We are able to keep track of more jobs easier with Buildertrend. Our production volume was at our limit before searching for online databases and project management software; with Buildertrend we have been able to make our business work significantly more smoothly, and we have information at our fingertips which in the past was like finding a needle in a haystack.
Pros:
Buildertrend is a wonderful way to keep track of what is going on. This includes scheduling; creating, recording and sending documentation; organizing projects neatly; and staying aware of finances. It also has a very helpful Leads section, which helps me keep track of prospects from the earliest stage of when I become aware of them. In a word, I would say I appreciate most the organization which Buildertrend offers.
Cons:
To be succinct, the user interface (UI) is decent but could use some improvement. The Files section in particular could use some work. I would like it to be versatile and able to navigate easily. An example of improved versatility is being able to access information in a simpler and faster way, such as Windows Explorer offers in how I see and can analyze various folders and files. An example of easy navigation is being able to tile multiple view windows so I can compare file locations across multiple Jobs to keep similar file types in the same locations, and so I could ensure my folders all have identical names across multiple Jobs

Cons:
There should be more training tutorials when it comes to the software.

Maximizing Efficiency in Construction Project Management.
Comments: The scheduling feature is particularly powerful, and the fact that it updates in real time and syncs with the team and me helps them avoid delays and misunderstandings.
Pros:
I like how I can customize the platform to fit my specific needs from forms to reports.
Cons:
Honestly, sometimes I would like there to be even more possibilities for integration with other programs that my company uses.

So far so good !
Comments: Overall the program is great. If new to this type of software someone would greatly benifit from having a coach like we did.
Pros:
It's a big program with alot of information to take in. Still learning after using it for 8 months but overall it seems to tick all the boxes for CRM software.
Cons:
Customer success coach seems to take a long time to return e-mails/set up appointments when we have questions/concerns. We as a busniess are still in the early stages of intergrating this software so still learning.

Could Be a Great Solution for a General Contractor with Large Projects
Comments: Overall, BuilderTrend seems like it could be a good solution for companies that build homes or do other large projects like that with subcontractors. It definitely is not designed for companies that do small jobs or many jobs with one client. Be ready with questions when meeting with your BT rep during your 90 day trail time. Have them show you how things are done so you understand how it works 100%. There were a few features that were promised to us, but then when we asked more specific questions, it turned out that those things were not as promised. However, probably a great tool for a general contractor needing to stay organized and wanting to stay transparent to clients!
Pros:
- Time tracking with overtime automatically calculated. - Job costing with custom jobs/types. Can generate reports so you can see effectiveness of employees. - Different views for job schedule which can be nice - calendar, agenda, gantt. - Can store unlimited photos, videos, and documents. All are organized in folders and can be shared with the client easily. - Can assign multiple employees to jobs as well as subcontractors and their prices and information. - It will show your current costs, so you can see how much the job is costing the client in real time. - Most everything is customizable and template based. - You are assigned a specific rep from BT that will answer all questions and do live training with you - Very helpful. - There are a fair amount of videos available online from other users who are also using the software. - Effective for companies that deal with large jobs with many moving parts and subcontractors. - Client portal for each job that includes notes, pictures, videos, progress, invoices, etc. This all can be hidden from clients as well and customized to how much information you are wanting to share.
Cons:
- Calendar feature doesn't allow you to drag and drop jobs or scheduled items and also allow clients to view it. You can either drag and drop or have it be viewable to clients. This is fairly simple to switch back and forth, but it adds extra steps. - App is not user friendly for employees or technicians. There are too many buttons to press. - This software only works well for companies that handle large jobs that are long term with many elements. - To-do's are fairly simple and not well designed. Great that you can add photos, videos, docs to each checklist item. But there's only 1 checkbox per item, no title for the item, and no way to make the to-do list required for employees. - If you don't press "save" after uploading photos/videos or writing notes, they will disappear and you can easily erase notes. No window that reminds you to save work before moving on. - Extremely job-based. You must chose the job and then you can view schedule, clock in, add notes, complete checklist, etc. Not easy to view all jobs at same time. - No line items for invoices. - Client portal is set up to be job-based and not client-based. That means every job will have to have a different username for the client to log into. - Overtime that is automatically calculated doesn't automatically calculate a higher rate on the client's budget. - Learning curve is overall fairly steep. As a fast learner and pretty technically able, it took me a while to figure out how the software worked. Not super intuitive. - Not a very updated or attractive look.

Helpful for managing projects
Pros:
This app is really helpful for managing teams and projects. Sometimes it’s a bit tricky to use but I like all the features that it can offers
Cons:
I prefer the computer version than the mobile one, it has more features.
Robust program-needs refined
Comments: The schedule keeps jobs on track. The PO process keeps costs in check. The time card keeps man hours job costed.
Pros:
It provides a solution for managing a construction company
Cons:
although the program performs many tasks, and even more than we need, it is glitchy and does not provide a smooth experience. When we click on windows to update budgets for instance, the windows flash and reload and resize multiple times. I have tried different browsers and different devices. This is not a user problem, but a problem with the way the data is served up. To perform some routine tasks, there is too many clicks required to get where you need to go. Too many windows and drilling down to get a number changed etc. Too many places for messages to be hiding. Customers send a message and think we have it, but we have at least three places to check to find the message. Sometimes, messages that come to email cannot be replied to. Very frustrating. BTW: We used Co construct for a while and liked the flow of the program much better. It ran smoother and was much quicker to get what we needed. It kept the spec sheet in front of the customer and kept good organization of communication. We switched to BT because of job costing and the time card feature, which we now understand are available with CC. Another huge grind, the budget sheet does not do a good job of showing the running cost on the job and whether we are over or under our budget (variance). Several reports can be created, but none of them do that. We have to export to excel and manipulate it ourselves. Seems like this should be a basic function. CC does this well also. Just sayin' :)
A necessary tool to achieve the best follow-up of work programs and accurately document all project
Comments: Buildertrend has worked to keep the work schedule always updated, as well as facilitated access to documents and other related items related to any task or activity, and provided us with many reports and summaries that show the progress of the project, as well as explain and show us many facts about a specific topic or about the project As a whole.
Pros:
Buildertrend simplifies the way to access project information data or the projects you're working on so you can view it, share it with colleagues, update it and save it, using your PC or mobile app. It has increased the organizational capabilities of the institution and enabled us to work on more than one job at the same time.
Cons:
I did not find any technical problems during use, and all the information I needed was easily obtained, and they have an excellent and quick response support team that answers your inquiries politely and helps you solve your problem within a short time.
