SketchUp has its place in the design process

4.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: SketchUp has great benefits in the Arch Design word, figuring those out and utilizing them with other programs is key.

Pros:

I enjoy the quickness of being able to develop a building concept for the exterior with regards to the shape and material

Cons:

Doing a full building design can be done but it is a laborious process.

Needs fixes!

3.0 9 months ago

Comments: Not bad, needs improvement. Once all the fixes are done, will be okay.

Pros:

Not complicated for simple drawings. Not too expensive.

Cons:

It does not save your color changes in paint. If you create anything in that group it will be lost. You can be working on a drawing and you will get logged off and all your changes are lost.

easiest 3d modeling software

4.0 last year

Comments: for a period of time while I was studying architecture , I didn't have much time to learn rendering professionally , I was short on money and my computer wasn't that strong , sketch up helped me go through that time , providing me with basic renders I needed .

Pros:

in my opinion the most likable aspect of SketchUp is how easy it is to work with . although i took a course to learn how to work with the software ,it wasn't necessary . you can easily learn the software by browsing through YouTube or other free videos .

Cons:

as easy as it is to work with sketch up it doesn't give you a very realistic render. for better and more detailed pictures you either should use another software or improve the renders by using photoshop.

SketchUp Review

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: Overall it is a good program. If studied a little more I could've been able to master it.

Pros:

That O was able to draw on my iPad with ease.

Cons:

It wasn’t too user friendly, it would sometimes draw a line where I didn't want it to. Some of the user tools are hidden and you need to really look for it.

SketchUp Review

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: It is a fun, easy to use and versatile program that is the perfect application for my profession.

Pros:

It is user friendly, efficient and has a lot of different tools. Having used it for more than 5 years I've become proficient and are able to create interior design layouts with ease and efficiency.

Cons:

It sometimes freezes when using it on Mac. I'm not sure how the experience differs on Microsoft but it can be frustrating when the program freezes on Mac (this would also depend of course on the spec of your computer)

Great for Quick Renderings for Presentation

4.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Been using this product for 8 years now and it's always my go to for quick renderings.

Pros:

It is quick to mock up to scale drawings. Easy to add color and use extensions to create realistic renderings. I've been trying out the new AI feature for renderings and working well.

Cons:

How everything is a different plane and it doesn't work in complete forms like other programs. Makes editing a drawing difficult if you don't draw it completely right the first time.

Great for anyone wanting to get involded in 3D modelling

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Great for both simple and complex 3D modeling.

Pros:

Sketchup is one of the more simple 3D modeling software programs, making it easy for beginners and advanced 3D modelers to use.

Cons:

There are tonnes of plug-ins for SketchUp, and it would be great if there were more educational videos on how to use each tool.

Amazing for CAD work

Comments: Love it, easy to use, cost effective and presents your plans and ideas beautifully.

Pros:

Very intuitive platform with a fast learning curve. The extensive library of components makes it easy to create realistic environments and it was great for designing point of sale.

Cons:

They recently moved the free version to web only which is glitchy unfortunately. Much more stable on desktop.

Quick to use modelling software

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Provides us with an easy way to build 3D models for use in calculation.

Pros:

It is quick to build a model and easy to learn in the first instance. It has a scripting language and ability to add custom attributes which means it can be used for multiple tasks.

Cons:

Slow for big models with lots of polygons, clipping when distant from origin. The scripts can be slow to run.

Easy to use!

4.0 last year

Pros:

It is a very straight forward program. You can model up ideas very quickly with limited knowledge. Great for showing ideas to clients.

Cons:

It tends to freeze with larger models and some of the plugins are behind compared to programmes like Rhino. It could implement 2D drawing more.

Fast and easy to model, amazing library

4.0 2 years ago

Pros:

one of the main reasons i use sketch up is their warehouse of library, one of the most detailed and variant libraries i have seen in a software, very good for furniture regarding commercial projects and residential

Cons:

that lines and surfaces are seperate, it makes modelling and editing harder to handle especially when selecting or moving surfaces

Very easy and powerful

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I use SketchUp for planning server rooms and for some home projects and I like it.

Pros:

I like that with SketchUp it is easy to draw all that you need. SketchUp is very easy to learn and new users very quickly start to use it. I also like it user-friendly interface.

Cons:

It may has performance issues for very complex models and some users miss advanced rendering capabilities, but for me it is enough, because I use it mainly for floor plans.

You can sketch almost anything

3.0 2 years ago

Pros:

What I love about SketchUp is the fact it's not limited to 3d buildings. You can draw and create anything that you want and have a visual and practical idea of how it would look like or what measures needed to take

Cons:

I wish the rendering was a bit more high scale.

I am able to design houses, booth, furniture and etc. From beginner up to now that I am fluent in using this software app, Sketchup is the best app for me and I recommend it to all users who are in construction and architectural field. What is best with sketchup is you can you use it as your hobby too if you're interested in designing houses or other this app is for you. 100% effective and useful.

The most impactful to me is the User Interface (UI) it is very user friendly and easy to use. From beginner up to expert can use this product. The features are very helpful like the drafting I can pause and continue my work whenever I want while securing the designs I made. All tools are present , the perspective views and designing tools. The subscription plans are affordable.

Cons:

For me, the cons are the third party sometimes it bring hassle for users as it is not the applicable third party app for us. Third party apps are not recommended sometimes and it needs improvement.

Tested out briefly and was very impressed - will return when I have a use case

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Tested out briefly with a view to using for product design as a maker. Right now I don't have a use case but have seen enough to know I'll definitely try again when I have a solid need.

Pros:

Super easy to use and satisfying, with potential to be very powerful

Cons:

The free version lacks features, and sometimes leaves one wanting more
